Kathy Ireland’s Honolulu retreat

Julia Roberts’ former San Francisco hillside home

Candice Bergen’s apartment with Central Park views

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Hamptons beachside cottage

Why Cher won: It’s hard to beat spectacular views of Central Park or a Hamptons property just steps from a private beach, but Cher’s Malibu, CA, mansion clinched the win for a number of reasons.

Cher’s $75 million California estate

Realtor.com

First of all, her 13,000-square-foot abode sits on a lush, private cliff and offers jaw-dropping views of the Pacific Ocean.

Inside, the Mediterranean-style home features floor-to-ceiling windows that set the scene for luxurious yet comfortable California living.

The resort-worthy backyard features a tennis court and infinity pool.

The location is just a short drive to some of the most popular beaches and restaurants in the world. And while the iconic performer still hasn’t found a buyer for the $75 million property, it’s easy to see why the price nearly reaches nine digits.

Why Gisele Bündchen won: Since splitting from Tom Brady, Bündchen has been on a real estate buying spree. Her latest acquisition was a 7.5-acre equestrian estate in Florida boasting a backyard of epic proportions that ensured she galloped away with the win.

Amenities include a state-of-the-art equestrian rink, 10 horse stalls, a tennis court, and a soccer pitch.

Among all the over-the-top amenities we saw this year, Bündchen’s backyard was a cut above the rest.

Not only is it humongous and shaped like an elegant four-leaf clover, but it also offers amazing ocean views. Win-win.

The adjacent loggia offers a respite from the sun and is equipped for leisurely summer days with an outdoor kitchen, flat-screen television, and seating area.

Joel has been looking to part with his palatial $54.9 million estate near Palm Beach, FL, for the longest time, and whoever scoops it up will score the ultimate backyard spread.

It doesn’t get more dramatic than a blood-red pool.

Compass

In May 2023, we heard that the tattoo titan and beauty entrepreneur had found a buyer for her 12,500-square-foot, Gothic-modern manse in Los Angeles.

Built in 1896, the Victorian-era estate boasts turrets, dark wood paneling, parlor walls adorned with gold scrollwork, stained-glass windows, and elegant chandeliers.

The showstopper: Behind a secret door lies a bar that opens outside to the pièce de résistance—that scarlet-hued pool and spa.

Best Kitchen

James Cameron’s custom kitchen at his eco-ranch wins the Best Kitchen award.

Julia Roberts’ kitchen with a Golden Gate Bridge view

Halle Berry’s Malibu kitchen

Michelle Wie West’s organic modern kitchen

Why James Cameron won: The legendary director has owned his opulent eco-ranch in California for over 20 years. In that time, he’s turned the residence into a self-sustaining estate with impeccable interiors to boot.

Of all the jaw-dropping spaces inside the home, perhaps the most impressive is the kitchen.

It features custom lighting, cabinetry, and countertops; a large dining island; Wolf range; Sub-Zero refrigerator; and an impressive hanging pot rack.

It’s exactly the type of kitchen we’d love to start our day in before skipping outside for a dip in the lagoon-style pool and spa, or going for a hike on the 102-acre property.

Best Overall Home

The Best Overall Home goes to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Beverly Hills, CA, estate.

Why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck won: After the couple tied the knot in 2022, it didn’t take long for them to start their home search.

In 2023, they landed on “one of the most iconic estates” in Beverly Hills, a celeb-ready fortress known as Wallingford Estate.

The sale price? An eye-watering $60,850,000.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s iconic estate wins the award for Best Overall Home.

Realtor.com

When news broke that the duo had found their forever home—a 38,000-square-foot megamansion on 5 acres—we had a feeling this would be the most lavish home we’d see in 2023. We were, in fact, correct.

The property showcases 12 bedrooms, 24 baths, parking for more than 80 cars, a pickleball court, a boxing ring, a sports lounge, a zero-edge pool, and a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse.

So, for its celebrity pedigree, massive floor plan, and designer features and amenities, we have no choice but to name the couple’s Beverly Hills palace as the Best Overall Home of the past year.
