The location of any movie plays an integral role in storytelling, and the nominees for Best Picture at the upcoming annual Academy Awards are no different.

From a sweeping waterfront property in Connecticut (Bradley Cooper‘s “Maestro”) to a family beach house on the coast of Massachusetts (“American Fiction,” with Jeffrey Wright), where a character calls home, sweet home, deeply informs their narrative (we’re looking at you, “Barbie“).

So, as we ready our ballot sheets for Hollywood’s biggest night (or race to stream the movies we’ve missed), why not consider some homes for sale inspired by six of the films competing for Best Picture? You don’t need to be a member of the academy to pick your winner.

‘Maestro’: Sprawling Connecticut estate

Leonard Bernstein’s children allowed director (and star) Bradley Cooper to film in the family compound.

Price: $7,500,000

In Cooper’s biopic of Leonard Bernstein, the great composer is shown living in the famed Dakota building, home to many past and present stars, including John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Judy Garland.

But when the conductor and pianist needed a break from New York City’s din, he escaped to a classic Colonial in Fairfield, CT, one of the wealthiest counties in the nation.

(Facts: Bernstein wrote many of his popular works at his country estate, and some of his children still live in the real house.)

If you’re looking for solitude on the water, this stunning five-bedroom, 7.5-bath mansion on 2 acres will fit the bill nicely.

It has more than 11,000 square feet of living space, as well as a pool and pool house and 200 feet of waterfront from which you can glimpse the Big Apple’s skyscrapers.

This estate on Long Island Sound has views facing Westport’s Gold Coast.

‘The Holdovers’: Former public building

In the film, Paul Giamatti’s character has bunked at the academy for decades.

Price: $1,075,000

The heart-warming tale of a gruff private-school teacher, played by Paul Giamatti, and his friendship with a lonely student was set at the fictional Barton Academy. However, this institution’s buildings and campus were an amalgamation of several different locations, including actual schools (in Groton, NY, and Deerfield, CT) and a public high school in Fairhaven, MA.

While former schools have been renovated into private dwellings, remodeled churches are easier to come by.

For example, this one in Saint Paul, MN, is a 1950s house of worship with the potential to become a private residence or multiunit development. Good bones are built in, like enormous rooms and sky-high ceilings, and the outside offers mature trees on a large corner lot.

This former church boasts classic architecture and soaring ceilings.

‘Anatomy of a Fall’: A-frame chalet

The scene of the crime?

Price: $399,000

Did the wife, played by Sandra Hüller, push her husband? Or did he trip and fall to his death?

This French legal drama is filled with suspense and, as you’d expect, was set in France, in an Alpine A-frame that’s available on Airbnb. You, too, can live the chalet life, albeit on this side of the pond in a home of similar shape.

Behold this woodsy charmer in Loon Lake, WA. It has a single bedroom and one bath, perfect for a couple of lovebirds. Enjoy lake views, a cozy fireplace, a covered deck, and a spacious back patio. There’s even a bonus bunkhouse for guests and a deep-water boat slip at the community dock.

An adorable cabin in the woods with lake views.

‘Past Lives’: East Village apartment

Greta Lee’s character gets deep in her NYC pad.

Price: $899,999

Destiny, true love, and heartache are at the center of this drama, starring Greta Lee and Teo Yoo.

The movie crosses borders in its filming, from South Korea to Canada to New York City, but the weighty final scene was filmed in the latter’s East Village on East 1st Street, where Lee’s character and her husband live.

Formally known as a neighborhood of many different immigrants, this part of New York City is now a cultural, arty hub filled with trendy cafes and nightlife. This cute two-bedroom, one-bath apartment is on the top floor of a walk-up building, which means you’ll get some daily exercise and lovely views.

This listing comes with many city amenities, including an eat-in kitchen with a window, a washer/dryer in the unit, new appliances, high ceilings, a renovated bathroom, and hardwood floors.

‘American Fiction’: Beach house

Much of the dramedy takes place at Monk’s family beach house on the Massachusetts shore.

Courtesy of MGM

Price: $1,749,000

Wright plays Monk, a frustrated novelist, and many scenes from this hilarious comedy were set at a family beach house in Scituate, MA.

This coastal town, located about 25 miles south of Boston, currently has this condo on offer, with three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and about 2,600 square feet of living space.

This end unit has access to two bodies of water, the South River and the beach, which means you can motor your boat to either spot. As a new build, it features fancy finishes, a coffered ceiling, shiny wood floors, molding, built-ins, and a two-car garage. The primary suite comes with a balcony for quiet reading.

‘Barbie’: A pink house (of course!)

Price: $17,200,000

Barbie seems like a Cali girl—or maybe she’s from the Sunshine State. Either way, her pretty pink abode has inspired lots of wannabes. One in particular was shown on HGTV’s “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge” and was recently for sale for just over $2 million.

But perhaps you’ve got even deeper pockets for this palatial estate in Naples, FL, known as The Pink House. This modern manse was so named in tribute to another house that stood in the same spot and sported pink paint.

The home has three bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and more than 4,300 square feet of living space. It also has 80 feet of canal frontage for boating enthusiasts, a pool and spa, and impact windows to protect against fierce storms.

As for the pink part? It’s a giant wall that can be viewed from the exterior and interior, offering a color pop or a soft blush glow, depending on the time of day.

Think pink!
